Start with useful situations

Practise greetings, numbers, food, family, shopping and transport. Each lesson introduces a small group of words and puts them into complete sentences. You can listen, assemble an answer, type or choose a translation, depending on the exercise.

Grammar explained in English

Portuguese nouns have grammatical gender, and articles and adjectives change to agree with them. Verbs also change with the person and the time of the action. Explanations in English connect these patterns to the sentences you practise.

The course includes common verbs, questions, negation, past and future forms, pronouns and ways to express conditions. For example, Eu tenho um livro means I have a book. You practise the structure together with the words that give it meaning.
